Britain needed food and military supplies to survive the war. America’s Lend-Lease Act made it possible for aid to be given to Britain. However, when Britain would send their ships across the Atlantic Ocean to America, German U-Boats, or submarines would attack. They had direct access to the Atlantic once France fell. The most dangerous place for the British ships were in the Northern Mid-Atlantic because there was no protection in the middle of the ocean.
